The Future of Flight(TM) Aviation Center and Boeing Tour gives kids the opportunity to learn how planes fly and why they are designed in specific ways. Through interactive exhibits where they can design their own jet and a tour of the Boeing plant, kids can see first hand what it takes to build and design a large jet and how they can fly. The Museum of Flight
The Museum of Flight is dedicated to educating the public about air and space development, science, and aeronautical and astronautical history. At the Aviation Learning Center students can learn about flight dynamics, navigation, weather and wind tunnel experiments. Beginning in March, visitors can check out "The Perlan: A Record-Setting Sailplane," an exhibit dedicated to the science of soaring.

Do your kids like trains? If so, the Houston Railroad Museum is the place to go. At this locally run museum, they can explore all sorts of train cars, from a locomotive built in 1949, to a parlor car from 1947, to a bay window caboose built in 1979. They can even learn about the history of trains in Texas. Make sure you go on a Saturday, though, because that is the only day of the week that this volunteer-run museum is open.

Lone Star Flight Museum
Take your kids to the Lone Star Flight Museum in Galveston, Texas to teach them all about the history of aviation in Texas. At this museum, declared the Texas Aviation Hall of Fame by then Gov. George W. Bush, they can get up close and personal with many different kinds of historic aircraft, including many planes that flew in World War II. If you time your visit right, they can even see an air show or fly in a B-17, B-25, T-6, or PT-17.
